A Normal Distribution

The bell curve and I are old rivals
I'm used to him sticking folks into his
handy compartments and he's accustomed to me
climbing breathlessly over his arch and back down again,
tripping        between        standard        deviations
and squeezing into the dark recesses of his
thick                                                    tails,
dragging children out and using their strengths to blow them back up into their three- dimensional selves
after being sucked in and flattened like pancakes, by that guy, my old
rival                                the bell                            curve.
